They aren`t its a weird way the forum does PM`s.
When you send a message to someone it sits in your outbox until they read it THEN it goes into the SENT ITEMS box!
So, when you send a pm you can edit it right up until the point they read it.
PRIVATE MESSAGES STUCK IN OUTBOX?
