No offence to those who posted but after the way CGT has treated Jimmy (without whom we probably wouldn't still be here) , i couldn't give a toss about the Friends Again reunion or any future Bathers albums . If i'm honest they got steadily worse after Lagoon Blues anyway . Thanks for all the effort and cds over the years Jimmy , and Chris - screw you mate .

Was lucky enough to be at the Saturday Recital Rooms gig to watch CGT perform with James Grant. An ideal Intimate setting for such Bathers/Friends Again nostalgia. Some familiar faces from the Bathers gigs of old too. Did i see drummer/voclist Hazel Morrison taking in the show?(looking pretty hot i may add!) Could have been the reason the band were all wearing shades in the first set?!)

great to see James Grant and CGT at the City Halls play their way through some old Friends Again songs - utterly brilliant versions of State of Art, Old Flame, Moon 3, Lucky Star, Dealing in Silver, Perpetual Adoration, South of Love, Honey at the Core, Sunkissed....like 25 years seemed just a blink of the eye. Hopefully more live action will follow....

Gutted I cannot make it to Glasgow for that special night in June. I was close to paying for a couple of tickets when I realised that weekend I couldn't go. I must say James Grant's Strange Flowers was my album of the year in 2009. I just hope any of you going will tell us about it here in this forum. I never know how to thank Jimmy for keeping it alive. All the best everyone.

Thanks for the appreciation Mon. I too wont be going to the gig. We only have one wage coming in due to illness so I couldnt afford the 40 odd quid for tickets for me and my partner. I did tell CGT I couldnt make it as I was skint as a deliberate hint.It seems that even though I kept the site going for the past 10 years while he was totally disinterested, and the fact that for the past 2 years I have paid for the dot com, the website, and the space its on all by myself, it didnt warrant a couple of complimentries or guestlist admission. Another one of those people in life who take take take and give NOTHING in return!!!I spent thousands and thousands of pounds on equipment to film all those gigs, spent thousands of hours of my time working on this site, the cds, all the uploads to you tube, all the work that went into dealing with all the enquirees, and I kept his and The Bathers name alive for the past 10 years while he played happy families and that`s the thanks you get. Nice innit? But then thats EXACTLY what I expected. It`s good to know someone appreciates it mate cheers!

Jimmy there are a lot of us who appreciate what you have done and will probably still do. Nothing has come out from the band for a long time, yet myself and others have have still come back periodically to check out your website and found solace in what you have shared with us.I haven't got spare tickets but if they turn up for you let us know so I can stand you a pint before the gig.

Thanks Jim

jimmy,
as far as i'm concerned, you're the only one keeping 'hope' alive. all of your hard work might just be the impetus behind an eventual new release. i'm very appreciative of the work you've done and continue to do.
all the best

(52) Hi there,

Unlikely request I know, but my girlfriend and I have loved the Bathers for years, and only found out about the James Grant Saturday gig that day AFTER it sold out. Argh!

If anyone, for any reason, can't go, could you please contact me on ku.oc.oohay@2dnaldnalhgih (I've done it backward to prevent spam!). Or I'm a member of the Bathers Facebook page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John Milne

All emaail addresses on this site are encrypted. They still show normally but the bots dont get them as thats when the encryption kicks in.

Just bought a ticket to see James Grant in June. Listening to The Bathers for me is always tinged with unbearable sadness as to what could and might have been.....a la recherche du temps perdu.

Nice to hear fond memories of such a fine band from fans and admirers like myself. I was at many of the gigs discussed within this forum and still re-visit The Bathers albums on a regular basis. (They still sound as wonderful as they did when first released).
I recently found a unique old cassette by the band in my collection containing rehearsals and demo tracks. Which was nice....
